The Taiwan Scholarship Program is designated to encourage promising students from foreign countries to pursue their degree studies in Taiwan to familiarize themselves with the academic environment in Taiwan and promote communication, understanding, and friendship between Taiwan and the international community. For those students interested in studying in Taiwan, they may choose to pursue their degree with English as the primary language of instruction or in Chinese.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) Taiwan Scholarship Program provides each outstanding international student scholarship recipient who comes to Taiwan to undertake a bachelor’s degree (4 years scholarship), master’s degree (2 years), or doctorate degree (4 years).


The MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Program (HES) is established by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to encourage international students to undertake Mandarin Chinese (Huayu) courses in the Republic of China (Taiwan); in order to provide them with opportunities to increase their understanding of Taiwanese culture and society, and to promote mutual understanding and interactions between Taiwan and the international community.

Huayu Enrichment courses will include a summer term (June and July or July and August), along with term classes, which may last 3, 6 or 9 months to a year respectively.

A core principle of the Ministry of Education's approach is to "replace the right to an education with the right to learn, for all citizens, and make education genuinely learner-centered." Students are at the heart of education, and students' learning is our critical goal. 

The Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET)   

FICHET is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 and is integrating 4 associations in Taiwan : (1)Association of National Universities of Taiwan (ANUT), (2)Association of Private Universities and Colleges of Taiwan (APUC), (3)Association of National Universities of Science and Technology of Taiwan (U-Tech), and (4)Association of Private Universities and Colleges of Technology of Taiwan (APUCT). Currently, representing 116 member universities, FICHET has been given the responsibility.


The Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan has for many years been home to numerous institutions devoted to the study of the Chinese Language. Students find that in addition to being able to enjoy the benefits of language training facilities, there is a much to be learned from experiencing the blend of tradition and modernity found in Taiwan.
