Purpose |
To encourage promising foreign students to pursue their degree studies in Taiwan |
To encourage potential students to enhance their Huayu (Mandarin) language skills in Taiwan |
To encourage local Senior High Schools and Vocational High Schools to recruit international high school students to study in Taiwan |
To encourage foreign schools to create study abroad program to learn Mandarin in Taiwan |

Undergraduate: maximum 4 years. Master program: maximum 2years. Doctoral program: maximum 3 years |

The duration, upon receiving the award, is twelve months and will be issued each month. |

Benefits |
Scholarship in the amount NT$25,000 per month for undergraduate students, or NT$30,000 per month for graduate students, will be provided. |
A stipend of NT$25,000 per month for each person will be provided. |
The maximum monthly amount is NT$20,000 and includes the following: * Allowance: NT$6,000. * Accommodation and Board: NT$12,000. * Insurance Coverage and Miscellaneous Expenses: NT$2,000. ˇ@ |
Each individual group will receive total of US$5,000 dollars. The subsidy will be converted into NT (New Taiwan Dollar) and distribute to students when they arrive in Taiwan by the Mandarin Learning Centre in Taiwan. |

How to apply |
All applicants must be submitted to a designated Taiwan overseas mission, in the country of the applicantˇ¦s citizenship, from February 1st until the end of March of each year. These Taiwan overseas missions will be responsible for the selection of recipients. ˇ@ ˇ@ ˇ@ |
All applications must be submitted to a designated Taiwan overseas mission in the country of the applicantˇ¦s citizenship, or a designated cooperating agency/ institution with a mission office, from February 1st until the end of March of each year. These Taiwan overseas missions will be responsible for the selection of scholarship recipients. |
* Must be a current senior high school student between the age of 15 to 18. * Must have a recommendation letter by a current high school administrator or principal and certified by the overseas mission of the R.O.C . * Good conduct, above average school grades, independent, able to adjust, fluent English skills. Students with basic Chinese skills will be receive first consideration. * Students who are not citizen of Taiwan, R.O.C. * Students who are not immigrant from Taiwan. * Conform to other admission requirements of Embassy of Taiwan, R.O.C. Students who have dual nationality and have cancelled their Taiwan nationality by the Department of Interior of Taiwan, can not apply for this program, within eight years. ˇ@ |
Each organizer need to select a proposal from the participating Mandarin Learning Centers and directly contact the Center to arrange the program starting date ˇ@ All application proposals must be submitted to the nearest MOE liaison offices. ˇ@ The number of students of each participating group is minimum Ten ˇ@ Each group should have a group coordinator who is responsible for the coordinating the program and safety of students during their study period in Taiwan ˇ@ |

NOTE:
Overseas Chinese and Heritage students who plan to study in Taiwan should contact the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission (http://www.ocac.gov.tw)or (http://www.overseas.ncnu.edu.tw/), in order to apply for Overseas Compatriot Student Scholarships in accordance with the Regulations Governing Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan. They should not apply for support from the Taiwan Scholarship Programs described above. Foreign students who are currently studying in Taiwan should apply for the Foreign Student Scholarships provided by their universities or colleges.

It is applicants' responsibility to apply to school of which are interested. Cultural Division, TECO in LA may not submit application on behalf of applicants.

For applicants currently enrolled full-time in a university located in the Service Area( Southern California , Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii, Caroline Islands, Guam, Marshall Islands, Mariana Islands, American Samoa, and the United Mexican States.) or have been enrolled as a full-time student within the past three years, please contact Cultural Division, TECO in Los Angeles.
