Application Procedure

1. When to apply?
The yearly application period is from February 1st through March 31st, unless specified otherwise.

2. Where to apply?
Applicants who have a permanent address or are currently enrolled or have been enrolled within the past three years full-time in a university located in the following areas: Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii, Caroline Islands, Guam, Marshall Islands, Mariana Islands, and American Samoa, please send all required documents to:

For applicants who are located outside of the above listed areas, please contact the designated Taiwan Representative Office in your area or in the nearest location. Check online for your Taiwan Representative Office's contact information.

3. What materials are needed to apply?
The following documents are required before the application can be processed:

  1. One copy of the completed Taiwan Scholarship application form.
  2. One photocopy of passport or other nationality certificates.
  3. One authenticated photocopy of the highest-level diploma and a official complete grade transcript.
  4. Supporting admission application materials (e.g. photocopy of application forms for language training centers or for a degree program at universities/colleges in Taiwan. The exact academic year that applicants would be enrolled as full-time students at these institutions must be clearly specified on these documents; or a copy of the application fee receipt, or the reply letter or e-mail from the school which the applicant has applied to.)
  5. 2 Recommendation Letters
  6. Photocopy of a certificate proving acceptable levels of Chinese language proficiency, such as Test of Proficiency-Huayu (Mandarin proficiency test, in short TOP), depending on which language will be used for instruction. (N.B. only applicants for degree programs need submit this document.)
  7. Taiwan Scholarship Terms of Agreements

The selection priority for these scholarships will be given to those who intend to undertake a degree program and have successfully received admission to a university/college.
