PRESS RELEASE

SUPPORT TAIWAN BY SIGNING E-PETITION CALLING ON THE EUROPEAN UNION TO KEEP THE BAN ON ARMS SALES TO CHINA

Following the Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989 the European Union adopted a resolution banning the sale of weapons to the People’s Republic of China (PRC). However, EU member countries like France and Germany suggest the time is right to lift the ban.

We, as members of the global Taiwanese community, strongly disagree. Lifting the ban would reward Beijing for continued human rights abuses. Moreover, it would pose an even graver threat to the 23 million people of Taiwan, regional peace and security in the Asia Pacific, increase the potential for global conflict, and at worst, encourage terrorism.

Let your voice be heard. Support human rights in China. Insist that the European Union keep the ban on weapons sales to China in place by signing the e-petition “No  to EU’s Arms Sales to China” at Gopetition.com.
